Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøÈë¿Ú’s Department of Art & Design hosts visiting artist in ceramics

The Department of Art & Design at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøÈë¿Ú is pleased to welcome Pattie Chalmers for a lecture and workshop, Sept. 14-15.

MURRAY, Ky. — The Department of Art & Design at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøÈë¿Ú is pleased to welcome Pattie Chalmers for a lecture and workshop Sept. 14-15.

Chalmers will lead a workshop for advanced ceramics students, and the public is encouraged to stop by and see her work in action. The workshop will take place in Visual Arts room 106 on Monday, September 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, September 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Chalmers will give an artist talk on Tuesday, September 15, at 4 p.m. in Price Doyle Fine Arts Center room 623. The talk is free and open to the public.

Chalmers grew up and went to art school in Winnipeg, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of Manitoba, and her Master of Fine Arts in ceramics from the University of Minnesota. Chalmers has exhibited in group exhibitions on five continents, in six countries and in 34 states and has had seven solo exhibitions in the past five years, most recently Hinterland, at Silverwood Park Gallery, St. Anthony, Minnesota and the Mudmaid Museum at the Sheldon Art Center in St. Louis. Chalmers is a professor at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where she teaches ceramics and is the Head of Graduate Studies.
