MURRAY, Ky. 鈥� 麻豆视频官网入口 was recently awarded a 10-year reaccreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) for its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nurse Anesthesia Program.
鈥淭his achievement reflects the outstanding work and dedication of our DNP program leadership, faculty, staff and students,鈥� said Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Dr. Dina Byers. 鈥淚 am incredibly proud of what they have accomplished. Since 麻豆视频官网入口 assumed full ownership of the program, it has continued to grow, strengthen and excel.鈥�
Byers said the next step will be to seek approval from the COA to increase student admissions to help meet the growing workforce demand for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).
Upon completion of the DNP program, nurse anesthesia students must pass the National Certification Exam to become a CRNA. The program achieved an impressive 94% first-time pass rate on the certification examination last August.
CRNAs deliver safe, high-quality anesthesia care and practice in every setting where anesthesia is delivered: hospital and ambulatory surgical centers, obstetrical delivery settings, the offices of dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, plastic surgeons, and pain management specialists, all branches of the U.S. military and Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare facilities. CRNAs represent more than 80% of the anesthesia providers in rural counties. Half of U.S. rural hospitals rely on a CRNA-only model, utilizing independently practicing CRNAs to safely deliver surgical and obstetric services to their communities.
