Alumni Association celebrates 100 years

Milestone honors a century of alumni engagement, tradition and lifelong connections
MURRAY, Ky. 鈥&苍产蝉辫;On June 1, 2026, the 麻豆视频官网入口 Alumni Association proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary, marking a century of service, tradition and connection among generations of Racers.
It was on this date in 1926 when the Murray State Normal and Teachers College Alumni Association was officially organized during a meeting in Wells Hall immediately following commencement exercises for the institution's first graduating class. Those inaugural commencement ceremonies were held in the Little Chapel and honored just 12 graduates who helped launch what would become one of Murray State鈥檚 most enduring support systems.
Today, the Alumni Association serves more than 85,000 living Racer alumni across the United States and around the world, fostering meaningful connections between graduates and their alma mater through events, volunteer opportunities, communications, traditions and philanthropic support.
鈥淭his milestone is about much more than marking the passage of time,鈥 said Carrie McGinnis, director of Alumni Relations at 麻豆视频官网入口. 鈥淔or 100 years, the Alumni Association has served as a bridge connecting generations of Racers through shared experiences, cherished traditions and an enduring love for our alma mater. As we celebrate this remarkable anniversary, we honor the alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors and friends who have helped shape our University while also looking ahead with excitement to the next century of Racer pride, lifelong connection, student support and alumni servant-leadership.鈥
Throughout the coming months, the Alumni Association will share stories, memories and historical highlights from its first 100 years while offering opportunities for alumni and friends to reconnect and participate in the celebration.
The centennial year begins by recognizing the University's first graduating class, whose vision and commitment helped establish a foundation for generations of students to follow.
Since its founding, the MSUAA has played a vital role in preserving University traditions, supporting student success and strengthening relationships among alumni across generations. From Homecoming celebrations and regional alumni events to volunteer engagement and student-focused initiatives, the Association remains committed to fostering lifelong connections in support of Murray State and each other.
